Smartphone cameras

My wife bought a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge earlier today. I've been playing around with her built-in camera and I have to say I am very impressed with its low light performance. Given that we carry our phones everywhere, it's become a very important visual documentation tool for capturing the growth of our four kids. While her phone won't take pictures anywhere near the resolution of my Canon 5d MkII, it rivals some point and shoots we bought 5 -7 years ago.

I'm definitely thankful to have my iPhone camera / video recorder with me at all times. Even if the quality is usually low, it allowed me to capture my son taking his first steps, literally. Pretty cool.

Carlos - the current generation of Samsung phone cameras have significantly better low light performance than the iPhones. I was testing them out at the store yesterday. I'm sure Apple will close the gap with the upcoming release as both companies play leapfrog with each other. We consumers are the winners in this competition.

I just updated to an S7 Edge and the camera in this one is SOOOOO much better than the S5. Plus the S7 is water resistant which comes in handy out here in the Great NorthWet. :)

Best bang for the buck smartphone camera I've ever used was of a Nokia Lumia 640.

When mobile phones started coming out with a camera, I remember thinking: who needs a camera in their phone?. Boy, was I wrong! It is hard for me to think how we did without carrying a camera with us all the time. I have also learned along the way that the best camera is the one you have with you when you need one!

This is a photo I took a few days ago with my Samsung Galaxy S7 of Gus waiting at the feed room gate to be fed. He never misses dinner.

The Galaxy S7 takes very good photos.

Beautiful horse Dan!

John.......Thanks. He's Marlene's horse, a registered American Quarter Horse. His registered name is Corporate Impression but we just call him Gus. He's a powerful horse but friendly. He will be 10 years old in July.
