PMC MB2SE demo

I had the pleasure of auditioning a pair of PMC MB2SE's in my home last month. My intent was to keep my EB1i's next to the MB2SE's and do a side by side comparison but the PMC Dealer convinced me to move the EB1i's out of the room. As I listened to to the MB2SE's over the next two weeks, I had much excitement and even some disappointment when I let them go back with the dealer.

My thoughts on the PMC MB2SE's.
- Mid Range is as good as it gets
- Airiness around the Voices
- Bigger Imaging, Fantastic sound from both our listening positions
- A Fuller Deeper Soundstage
- More powerful Low End
- Simply Enjoyable

The PMC MB2SE's will remain on my short list, they can easily replace my PMC EB1i's as my main speakers. Anyone looking for speakers in the $28K retail region should give them a listen.

Rob.......The PMC MB2SE speakers sure look good in your superb sound system. I think if I had them in my living room in place of my PMC EB1i's, I don't think I would have let them go. Does the price you mentioned include the matching stands?

Hi Rob, thank you for sharing your impressions on the MB2SEs. You mentioned you had some disappointment. In what ways?
Thank you...

More of a personnel disappointment. Not to take anything away from the MB2SE's but my EB1i's will do given my current living conditions. Also I was hoping the MB2SE's would be good without a sub. While they have a nice bass section, I need more for my listening.

Here are my EB1i's.

Rob.......The PMC EB1i speakers are no second fiddle. I have loved my pair from day one, and for nearly ten years they have produced marvelous music in my living room. I had the opportunity to move to the PMC IB2i a few years back but couldn't let the EB1i's go. They are wonderful, smooth, revealing, and dynamic speakers with a deep and powerful low end. Even though I think it would be interesting to own a pair of PMC MB2SE speakers, letting go of my PMC EB1i's would be very difficult.

Great setup Rob! Room looks beautiful. The EB1is are pretty massive as well. Is that a sub you have in the corner?

Update - My dealer contacted me back in July about purchasing the same pair of MB2SE's I demoed. I told him we weren't interested in the color or purchasing a demo model. After a brief discussion with him, a new pair of PMC MB2SE's in Amarone were ordered.:yes::yes: Still patiently waiting.......

Once I decided that I will always use sub/subs with my 2 Channel system, it was way to easy to hit the BUY button.
