Ref phono 2se

I have a ref phono 2se. When I power it off the display turns off but the tubes remain on. It sounds fine when playing a record. I have tried unplugging for a few minutes to reset the microprocessor but that did not help. Any ideas? I may have to send it to ARC for repair

That's strange, do the tubes stay on indefinitely or will they turn off after an extended period of time?

Agree that's strange. The tubes fade out fairly quickly when power is cut. Turning off power switch should be same as unplugging.

Stay on until I pull the plug

when I had my 2se never behave that way you might want to call ARC

Interesting story. My audio retailer who did not sell me the piece offered to take a look at it and discovered the power switch had been bypassed so the display would shut off but not the tubes. Apparently the person I bought it from never noticed. ARC when contacted said they sometimes do this for burn in reasons and it slipped out that way accidentally. ARC will take it back and repair at no expense and the seller has refunded the purchase price to me. I was then able to buy a demo ref 3 phono.

Wow, that’s interesting! Glad it worked out for you, I’m sure the Reference 3 is gonna be awesome too.
