Very nice. I would have been tempted had it not been for a certain golden thing...
|
From the picture, it looks like the display on the 40th Pre is different then the display on the REF 5.
Does anyone know if thats the case? Thanks Rich |

I bet this is a nice piece. I'd love to hear it.

Silver grab handles are standard, with black as an option. The top covers for both components are smoked acrylic, but black metal covers are available as a no-cost option.
Think you may have missed the party... :scratch2: Only a limited number will be made, and production will cease on December 31st, 2010. Audio Research Reference Anniversary preamp - hi-fi news - whathifi.com |
When it is turned on, the vacuum-fluorescent display will read “Anniversary Edition Reference Preamplifier 1970-1971” and it will begin to count up, year by year, until it reads 1970-2010. At the end of the cycle the display returns to normal, indicating volume, source, BAL/SE, and mute. As on other current Reference products, the display can be dimmed or turned off, with nine small pixels lit as a reminder that the unit is powered on.

[QUOTE=howiebrou;132731]Does it come in black?:scratch2:
I think black AR looks fantastic. You're so right Howie. My only regret, if you want to call it that, with my LS26 is I didn't get it in black. The demo unit I had for a couple weeks was black and it looked great, especially with my 402. Not that silver looks bad...in hindsight I just think black matches the Mac gear better. But in any case the ARC gear sounds amazing, and would even if it only came in pink! |
