Spring Travel Anyone?

Where are you headed this spring? Anywhere fun or interesting?

We are taking a transatlantic cruise from Tampa to Barcelona and then spending 3-wks in the south of France. We had planned to travel mostly by train, but the rolling strike convinced us to rent a car. Hopefully, we can get to Narbonne on a strike day to pick up our car. May have to take a bus, unless they are also on strike. Spending a couple of extra days in Barcelona would not be a bad thing, but hate to miss our days in Carcassonne.

Glenn,
Having the car will give you the freedom to visit a lot of smaller towns, and Cathar castles if that's up your alley. Have you considered renting a car from Barcelona? The drive from there to Andorra is beautiful, as is the drive then to any number of towns in Languedoc for the next stage of a journey - Mirepoix is a nice town to make a base for a few days of exploring.

I just cancelled (postponed?) our annual Europe trip for this late spring. We have some family events we are hosting and decided to space things out a bit

Have not been to Italy in many years. Hope to rectify that next year.

We have our trip pretty well mapped out. Visiting friends in Sete & Bezier & Pic St. Loup while in Carcassonne & Montpellier.

Munich for the Hi-End Show followed by touring in the area before heading up to Berlin for a while. (Returning home to supervise some renovations.)

Staying in the US or as close as you can come to leaving. Key West first week in June. I figure it's safer to stay home than possibly be in a country that we've pissed off recently.

Glenn, couple of restaurant recommendations if I may.

"Botafumeiro" (Barcelona)
and
"Mirazur" (Menton)

Enjoy your vacation mate!
