Kamiraas Condo Setup (Fun Read)
It all started with this . . .
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...pskihdfuug.jpg yes it knocked the exit sign off its hinge  http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...psrvcyvpdp.jpg So I started loading up the rack so myself. On a fun note its 85" tall, and this power conditioner weighs 72lbs. This wasn't fun, but I got to practice my overhead squat. http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...psrjcylvbc.jpg Initial layout was not working to fit everything but I learned how the enclosure responded thermally http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...psjrxbug8w.jpg I guess this is a good place to talk about the components going in the rack. . . Rack Components: NetGear Pro 24 Port Gigabit Switch Lighting Control Temperature Readout Power Control for the rack fans (two 3u on the top to push hot air out, 2 1u throughout the rack to suck air in) Furman F1500-UPS Sine Wave UPS / Power Conditioner for anything with a Hard Drive Panamax M7500Pro Power Conditioner Sonos Connect Running Optical to the Pre-Amp Sonos Connect Amps for the distributed Audio ReadyNas Ultra for my media Oppo BDP-95 Blu-Ray Player Microsoft Xbox One Microsoft Xbox 360 Sony PlayStation 3 Marantz AV8802A Pre-Amp capable of doing 13.2 on XLR Marantz MM8077 - 7 channel amplifier for my initial setup Marantz MM8077 - 7 channel amplifier for my second expansion Home built HTPC running Windows Media Center Display / Audio: Elite Pro70X5FD - full array flagship display running 720hz refresh rate Bowers & Wilkins CM9s for Front Channel Bowers & Wilkins CMC2 for Center Channel Bowers & Wilkins CM5s for Rear Channels SVS SB13Ultra for Subwoofer Marantz TT15 Turn Table with Carbon Arm |
Working on the layout some more and wiring began:
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...ps3vnlxodz.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...pstxr6wzog.jpg I needed to place a giant order after measuring out the distances of everything, so Audioquest Water 72V DBS for my analog XLRs, Audioquest Carbon HDMIs, Cat6A for all my networking since I wanted to ensure everything was shielded. http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...psocakxzak.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...psqrckqugf.jpg |
This is a good start, flexing the big XLRs is a pain. I got slightly longer just in case so I could reuse them for other projects later.
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...pso6ehqtsa.jpg After a new long nights: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...psdvpmd9sq.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...psdvpmd9sq.jpg Getting cleaned up: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...psznpprfsm.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...psf93ww3j9.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...pss5v1ok7p.jpg |
Now with the rack all wired up. it's a good time to run a powered test on everything and ensure it all works, temperature is good, lighting works, etc.
It all checked out great! Time to begin cabling . . . I decided to do bi-wiring on everything, the front left and right will get bi-amp'd. 12 gauge cooper, Audioquest silver spade ends at the speaker, Audioquest silver bananas at the amp. But I need it to look clean so here is some nice overbraid: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...pse5q2ooar.jpg Then lets get building cables . . . http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...ps1tw2mrbm.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...pskv04bfwo.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...pshkge1mrh.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...pshmmqfmjr.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...psp7ewjlee.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...psl7ccs700.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...psgitygwnb.jpg All done, time to check for resistance to ensure I crimped everything properly and didn't kinky anything. Less than 0.5ohm for 15-30 foot runs . . not bad . . http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...psijgjxdeg.jpg All bundled ready to be installed into the rack and moved. http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...psrl5bzqn4.jpg |
Time to make all the pass through cable passages. The pre-amp and this rack will power 3 areas, the main living room, my bedroom, and the hallwall tv. So cables need to go everywhere . . .
To save the day is my buddy who came out to help me a weekend and knock it out ! http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...ps4wlrkd0e.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...pshocjc76q.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...psoxrdqyt8.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...psem0isoul.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...pscrq4neco.jpg Upgraded Hospital grade outlets , it holds onto the cable like a death grip. http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...pswdmvbjzy.jpg While we were at it, I started on the bedroom stack: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...pshp7xtalr.jpg |
Clearing the way for the rack move, it will sit in this little area.
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...psivf1m9he.jpg Stringing out the cables and off it goes . . . http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...psif2hozwl.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...ps2h8qmtno.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...psfijxmtie.jpg |
Finished Installation!
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...psy2iplmlj.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...psgq9ztp54.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...pszkpktdxf.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...pskk3mdeyw.jpg Bonus picture of the bedroom setup: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...psoh1kdyse.jpg Then I ran Audyssey Pro on it all to calibrate the various rooms. The sub-woofer has flatline response down to 15hz , the speakers turned out near perfect also! http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...psdkimbmpg.jpg |
Bonus bar, turn table pics, and one of the control stations :
