Hong Kong AV Show 2010 pt 1

Well it was another action packed Hong Kong AV Show with thousands of attendees. The place seemed busier than last year and as usual there was the good and the bad. The crappy photos are from my iphone and the good ones 'borrowed' from a local website.

The new Franco Serblin Ktema was playing beautiful music. It was surprisingly small and compact. I like it a lot. The sound appeared a bit cleaner and clearer than other SF of his creation but the speaker had only been in Hong Kong for 3 days so was well from performing its best. Still it sounded great.

Franco Serblin's Ktema speaker. If you look closely you will see a piece of wood that extends down the back of the speaker. This piece has holes in it at various locations and it lies just an inch away from two woofers that fire backwards. I was wondering where the bass was coming from since the drivers at the front are pretty tiny.

The Kiso Acoustic HB-1 with Abbingdon Music Research preamp, amp and cd player and phono stage, Nottingham Analogue tt. It was absolutely unbelievable how loud and clear these 12 inch tall speakers made a room that must have been 40 feet by 60 feet at least.

But you should really hear it. It is an incredible speaker just may be a little frightening at night when you are watching an alien movie! Only costs about US$200k :music:
