Made a visit to Cary. Ordered a blue 6V6er. I truly needed a 3rd Inspire amp.

BTW, if you like 6V6G's there is an auction site seller that has NOS Fivre 6V6's for a good price. I'm not sure they are Fivre's but I bought a quad and they are excellent. |

Tri-amp setup next.... :p Hehehe. >>No passive crossovers<< using larger 3-way custom built speakers paired with a really good electronic crossover and three Inspire amps<<, now that would be fun to try. ... |
Has anyone tried the NOS Syl/RCA coin-base 6V6GTA tubes? I'm particularly fond of the coin-base 6SN7s and am wondering if it is worth the effort to find the coin-base 6V6 tubes for my amp.
|
I once tried a pair of coin-base 6V6GT. Didn't like them much. Then I posted on a couple of forums about them and heard back from others, mostly negative opinions. Several stated they were unreliable, noisy and sounded harsh. A couple said those were mostly manufactured in the 70s and were an attempt to lower production cost.
Of course it is all a matter of opinion. Some said they liked them. Oh, I'll add that well-known tube reseller Brent Jessee refuses to sell them. |
Haven’t used them for Hi-Fi, but I’ve used them in my Princeton Reverb with great results. :D

Has Dennis made any Inspire 845/211 SET amps? A search on this thread does not show any being mentioned.
|
Hey Formerly-YB-2, Dennis does not make an 845/211 amp.
I have asked him about it before...straitwire... |
How about a 15-16wpc Class A SET amp? Dennis offer anything like that? Just a pure amp with no input level control? He has a 10wpc 6L6 listed on eBay, but with a level control.
|
The amp Dennis has listed is pure class A Pentode, hence the 10wpc.
15-16 wpc in Triode strapped configuration usually requires parallel output tubes...straitwire |
