Streaming Source for Schiit Gungnir

Anyone using their SCHIIT DAC with a streaming source like Google Chromecast Audio? Curious about the results, the DAC should take care of any jitter issues from the chromecast. This seems like a nice little combo for streaming music from Tidal and spotify.

I occasionally listen to Spotify Premium using my Gumby ... sounds very good. Not quite hi-rez standard sound, but it sounds better than I thought it would. It's great for listening to music that you don't want to spend the money for a "hi-rez" file or top quality LP pressing. It's also great for finding new music or for pulling up that oddball song from the soundtrack of your youth - without buying the whole album "again".

I have a Bryston BDP-Pi hooked up to Gumby Multibit through coax dig input and sometimes listen to bRadio which offers quite a bit of streaming radio stations of various genres. Depending on the streaming quality it sounds pretty good. Most of my listening is over Roon/Tidal though.

When you refer to Gumby is that a nickname for the Gungnir?

With the clocking the Schiit does to clean up any jitter, I can't fathom why the chromecast audio wouldn't work with the DAC as a way to only stream spotify and tidal.

Gumby = Gungnir Multi-Bit. Gu for Gungnir and MB for Mulit-Bit and then a y on the end.

Likewise, Bifrost MultiBit is Bimby > Bi for Bifrost, MB for multibit, and the y to make it phonetic in pronunciation.

Modi Multibit is Mimby....

Lot's of fun and levity with Schiit products....they are a company that takes a humorous and light-hearted approach to audio, but are dead-serious about how they go about their business to provide products of exceptionally high performance for money. Mike and Jason really know WTF they are doing. As such, Schiit is very much a no bull-schiit company....and that's why we love 'em!

Yeah, I have really taken a liken to their style. I read through their user manual last night it was cracking me up.

I ordered a bluesond node2 but may end up returning it (crutchfield 60 day return policy) and run the Gungnir with chromecast audio or..keep the node to and run optical out to the gungnir to use its DAC.

The Gumby is back in stock...need to have restraint..I really want to try this with my node2 with a coax connection and xlr from the Gumby to my c2300.
