Any Plinius fans ?

I've been reading their newer stuff is supposed to be very nice, especially the Plinius SA Reference. Has anyone heard this amp? It's supposed to be on the warmer side of neutral.

Thanks!

I'm a big fan. Plinius power amps are stupendous and one of the best value pieces around bar none. Their fly under the radar branding does not allow them to charge more hence their superb value. I have heard the SA reference and the 103 power amps quite a bit.

I would say they are pretty neutral though not thin sounding. Very dynamic and again you will wonder where all the bass has come from, though it is not uncontrolled bass at all. I would say it even surpasses the MBL 9011 on this front. Of course the Pure Class A bit helps really give them the emotional connection as well.

If you can stomach the sometimes harsh re-sale values they are a best buy imho.

Thanks howie,

I appreciate your opinion very much. I've been reading so many positive comments all over the place. I don't know why I never looked into them. Thanks!

Hi guys i'm also a Plinius big fanboy, my friend own's the SA-250 MK1V with his Acoustat's Spectra 8800s and it's magic, i am 67 years old and audio as been my ONLY hobby in 40 years plus, i have heard many many very expensive systems and this is one of the best that i have heard, all this with ( don't laugh ) two Promitheus passif preamps, that for me was quite a surprise BUT it is what it is.

That amp gives me a chubby, I would like to hear it on my Maggies. Is it Class A?

Oh, that's it. Ha! Talk about sucking down a lot of electricity, I think those need their own power generator. I bet once they get good and warmed up, they must sound very nice.

I owned the Plinius Odeon (multichannel) for years, using it with Dali and Dynaudio speakers. Built like a tank and beautifully finished with a terrific sound. I sold it when the company was going through some financial difficulties and I was worried about continuing support, but they've been back on their feet for a while now and still making great products.

It was on the warmer side of neutral, but not by much. It could be a good combination with your TADs, just depends on how much warmth you need.

They don't have a big dealer network so you might have trouble getting one into your home for a demo.

I don't want to derail this thread but I will follow up in the CJ 350 thread.
