Help. I have a virus!

No, not that one; the audio one. My dealer will give me full retail trade in for my 1.1 speakers to upgrade to 2.1s. Worth it? 6 x 8” bass vs. 4 x 6.5”. That’s more surface area than the Gotham’s (I think I got the simple math right this time). Plus 1 dB better sensitivity. Would I even need the Gotham’s? Anybody with the 2.1s care to share their impressions? Or am I just crazy for thinking I might change what I’m already extremely pleased with?

It’s not my money, so I think you should do it ;)

I own 2 pairs of XRT2K’s, both sets are Tri-Amped and I still use my Gotham’s in both Theaters.

My advise is to definitely go for it. Huge improvement across the board from where you are today with your 1.1’s.

I knew I could count on you, Ivan, to help push me over the edge, lol! Are you using the 2301s at cape cod to drive the front panels?

Ha! No; in the Cape I use three MC-1.2KW’s per channel.

In Florida, I use an MC-2KW on the Bass bottoms, and two MC-1.2KW’s per channel.

The XRT2K’s absolutely love high power SS watts.

* These are “end all” Lifetime Speakers. Zero regrets here.:ok:

I’m surprised that they weigh twice as much as 1.1s

Twelve 8” drivers will do that. ;)

The XRT2K’s have Twelve 12” drivers. :p

With the dealer giving you a full retail trade credit I'd have to say yes. Just do it.

Stuff of dreams. If you can swing it, do it!

Rob, you have the room and the gear to go with a 2.1. I knew all along you could not resist the ultra Mac. Mac has been making speakers for a very long time. They have a tried and true technology dating back for decades. YES ABSOLUTELY GO FOR IT!! You are getting a great deal. How can you say no??

Best

Charles
