cheap Chinese 300b amps
Has anyone heard or purchased one of the inexpensive Chinese Ebay 300b amps such as the Boweii or Meixing MC300? Just wondering if they were any good, and if they arrived functional?
I do wish Line Magnetic would offer a 300B amp other than the all out assault one they offer now... maybe something in the 3k range? |
Line Magnetic makes a 300B integrated called the 210. Ask Don about it.

I heard the MC300 with new generation Klipschorns; it was very warm and musical, but it's the build quality that blew me away. Bing 'Meixing MC300-A' and select images; there's a pic of the chassis on the first page of images... |
Thanks Coleman. Looks like an interesting amp.
I did pick up a Tri TRV300se to play with. It has quenched my thirst for 300B sound for a bit. I just find I need a bit of 300B sound every once a while. |

Cheap Japanese 300B amp
I was looking at this but have not pulled the trigger. I have their now discontinued CD player/transport and it is excellent. I also had the Model 4 phono stage.
softone.a.la9.jp/english/Model8/M8-eng-1.htm . Softone Model8 Stereo Power Amplifier The description is rather 'cute'. Their English is better than my Japanese though. |

Had a chance to hear the Consonance REF 5.5 SET MKII PSE Int 300B tube amp this past weekend.
What a sweet sounding SET amp. It was hooked up to a pair of Joseph Audio Pulsar's . This combo had amazing resolution and even bass......Would have loved to hear some LP's on it......heard a few SACD's ....It was a sound I could easily live with :) http://www.audioaficionado.org/attac...-amps-300b.jpg http://www.audioaficionado.org/attac...-amps-2499.jpg |
Thanks for sharing of info.

I just got the Cayin A300b Mk II integrated. Why does adding -3db feedback make it sound better vs zero feedback. I thought any feedback is bad?

Feedback is not bad. Far from it.
It sounds better with a little feedback because the distortion has been reduced and linearity increased, producing better clarity and presence. Some early SS amps used too much feedback to make them measure well, and sounded terrible as a result. |
