My take on Platinum 8

I've been enjoying Wireworld Gold Eclipse 7 cables in my system for a little over a year now thinking that I would be okay and could relax and enjoy the system and not have to think about needing to do anymore upgrades for a while. Seems I was badly mistaken. Everything was OK until the Wireworld series 8 was announced." I'll be fine, I have what i need, can't be that much better than what i have now", I'm thinking.
I was trying to convince myself that I didn't want them, but knew I would have to eventually take the big plunge,so I purchase the Platinum 8's from Ivan with his usual discount pricing.

So far I've put about 50 or so hours on them. I know they will need a bit more to fully bloom,so to speak, but having listened to familiar music I can say that they are quite beautiful in their presentation. Compared to the Gold 7's there is more transparency and fleshed out harmonics. Their a very quiet cable. You'll hear much deeper into the sound stage, depending on the recording. Its quite stunning to hear sounds bouncing off the back wall of a concert hall you never noticed before with much greater separation between instruments. The treble reproduction is smooth as silk, especially noticeable on massed strings. totally free of grit or grain. These are definitely very low distortion cables. Mid-range is clear and very clean without a hint of stridency. Bass is strong, clean and pitch perfect. You'll get lodes of slam and then some!
Everything that I love about the Gold 7's has now been magnified/enhanced with greater air, quietness, delicacy, articulation and overall presentation..making for an even more refined and enjoyable listening experience.
The separation of instruments/voices and the notes they create can be heard as never before..with more delicate details emerging with an involvement factor off the charts. This is an incredibly coherent and musically involving cable that while not inexpensive are most definitely worth the cost. Ivan told me i was in for a real "treat". He was so right!

My advise? ...Save, borrow from friends, get a home equity loan, cash out the 401k.. somehow find a way to make it happen and you will not be disappointed.

So...Unless and until Wireworld comes out with a Series 9 cable, i think i can say, for sure this time, that i can relax and let go, at least for a while.
Seems the Platinum 8 cables are the ultimate cure even for a terminal case of upgrade-itis.

Dave.......Nice review of the Wireworld series 8 cables. I always appreciate an owner's point of view, especially when moving up the same compnay's product line.

Nice Review. Glad you like them.
I'm looking forward to hearing them to compare with the Platinum 7's which I'd describe similarly to your experience with the 8's.

There's only one source for Wireworld as far as I'm concerned!

Another +1, though I don't want to A/B the Pt 8's & 7's as it could well cost me too much. ;)

After playing three songs with the Wireworld Platinum Eclipse 8 I know this is the cable for my system. It's a demo 1m XLR that my local dealer told me was already broken-in. It has a very natural sound with better defined bass. I have it going from my preamp to the amplifier. It has a detailed , but relaxed sound , with better separation and a bigger soundstage than the Audioquest Fire or the WW Platinum series 7 that I had prior to the AQ Fire.

Thanks for the update. I’m happy to read it improves on 7. I look forward to making the comparison in my system.

Calling Ivan....
