SilenZio #5 in bound

I will be adding my 5th SilenZio to my newest system, yet to be fully decided upon. However, I do know for sure the SilenZio is the best sounding media server I have ever owned/experienced.

I now have well in excess of 4500 albums on my NAS.

E... sure is funny when I remember telling you that I was only going to put a few hundred max of my favorites on my first one. :D

Ivan, is the SilenZio Roon-ready or a Roon endpoint?

Ivan, have you compared the Silenzio against the Aurender, Mytek or Auralic products?

Yes, I had an Aurender N10 over the Summer. It was a very well made unit, that sounded very good. I had it connected to my D-02X in my TAD R1 and Esoteric/Bryston system.

However, for me there were a few wrinkles. The biggest reasons why it didn’t stay was two fold. First, in my personal opinion not having an internal CD drive for ripping is a big let down. There is a plethora of media servers on the market today, and why they chose to not include one really is surprising.

The other, and while it may shock some it didn’t me. The SilenZio did in fact sound better to both LuJr, and myself in a Side by Side comparison. This in no way is to be construed that the N10 did not sound great; the SilenZio to us just sounded better. It also had all the features that I require, and further reinforced why I am getting a 5th.

We all know in Audio there really are no absolutes, it always comes down to your ears, and personal features/choices. Occasionally, even cost becomes a factor.

For me, cost was not an object; I also had the opportunity to listen to the W20 in my home at $18k and even the Burmester 111 at $55k. Neither outperformed the SilenZio, and resulted in me selling both my N10 as well as the 111.

No, on the comparison with Mytek or Auralic.

Ivan.......That's the bottom line right there. Choice is a good thing.
