Bryston BDA-1 DAC
Bryston's new BDA-1 DAC seems to be getting favorable reviews. Bryston BDA-1 review from TechRadar UK's expert reviews of Amplifiers , and http://bryston.com/reviews/bda1/aus_bda.pdf .
A Bryston BDA-1, and a pair of the PMC TB2S-A powered monitors sitting on the desk on each side of your computer monitor might just be the ultimate desktop computer playback system. http://bryston.com/images/bda1.jpg http://mos.techradar.com//Review%20i...ack-728-75.jpg http://mos.techradar.com//Review%20i...ail-728-75.jpg http://www.pmc-speakers.com/images/p...tb2s-aii_2.jpg |
BCD-1 Award
Hi Dan,
I was also informed that the BDA-1 is getting a 2009 Product of the year Award from Absolute Sound Magazine in the next issue. james |
James Tanner.......Wow! That is a major honor, and comes with a lot of great free publicity, which is always a good thing. The BDA-1 is getting rave reviews. Of course, we would not expect anything less from Bryston. Congratulations to you and the Bryston team.
I know my desktop computer with a Bryston BDA-1 and the PMC TB2S-A is a little over the top as a computer monitor system, but I continuously search for new music, often at my desltop computer, and the analog out to cheezy speakers leaves me wanting more, a lot more. A small set of good amplified speakers with a USB enabled DAC would be ideal. |
BDA-1 with BCD 1?
What would be the benifits of using the BDA-1 DAC with the BCD 1 instead of just using the BCD-1 on its own.?

Volks.......Welcome to Audio Aficionado.
These days, having muliple digital inputs to a high quality DAC is essential, in my opinion. With so many outboard audio sources outputing a digital stream, i.e. music servers, laptop and desktop computers, digital audio tape recorders, Internet streaming devices like Sonos, and even some of the newest tuners, it is essential to have a DAC with multiple inputs in order to take advantage of the all the sources available today. |
My advice generally is that if you see yourself continuing to use CD's as your main source of listening then an all in one CD player is the best option (because you can usually attain lower jitter numbers with an all in one player).
If you see yourself moving towards multiple digital sources - especially the hi-res ones then the external DAC makes a lot of sense. james |

Not to side track the Bryston BDA-1 DAC thread, but to answer your question, the PMC TB2S-A dimensions (HxWxD) are 15.7" x 7.8" x 13.7", weight is 24 lbs. |
