Apollo 11

Unbelievable, never-before-seen footage of Apollo 11 as if it were filmed in HD today. This is a must see movie!

ah yes, 7/20, 50 years ago, watched it at my Aunts cottage, Rushford Lake, NY. All gather around a little 21" TV.

If memory serves right Zager & Evans, "In the year 2225" was #1 at the time.

Some years ago we had Gene Kranz, NASA Chief Flight Director, as a guest speaker at a company gathering. Did he have some stories! And the highlight, of course, was his being at the center of decisions that brought Apollo 13 home. Those were the days to be a part of aerospace!

Not to brag but I got to spend some time last week chatting with Buzz Aldrin at an astronomy conference called “Starmus” in Zurich. He is alive and well and happily touring. He spent a lot of time talking about orbital dynamics, his core subject.

IIRC, Buzz has a D.Sc. in Orbital Dynamics (same as a PhD).

PBS is airing a series it appears this week on space travel, and a cool Nova episode as well - only caught parts of it but want to circle back and catch this from beginning to end.

I went to Kennedy earlier this year, and that ignited my interest.
