Jelco closes their doors.
Takako Ichikawa announced that 100 year old Ichikawa Jewel Company(Jelco) is closing its doors. Due to Covid-19 and an aging work force they decided to close.Sad day Jelco was an excellent product that was on many TT's worldwide.:tears:

I'm pretty sure Jelco did quite a bit of OEM work, such as for Luxman and Ortofon, I think. If I'm right, its absence will create a hole in the market, because it was a popular source for modestly-priced pickup arms. That would be unfortunate.

My order for their 10" TK will not be filled. I put it in 2 months ago and got the message last night that Jelco has shut their doors. Sad for so many reasons. Not much different here. Young people have no interest in something as uncool as running a precision machine-shop. A dying art that requires a brain.

The Jelco IMHO is a work of art compared to the other popular OEM arms like Rega or Project.
I recall reading that Linn was using Jelco for the new Majik arm. That was a big step up from the old Project |
