A dollar coin would save American taxpayers BILLIONS

.

" 10 separate reports over the past 24 years, the Government Accountability Office has recommended that switching to the dollar coin would save American taxpayers billions of dollars." !!

Pennies and nickels cost more to make than they are worth. (Not sure if everybody knows that about nickels)

LOL what is with that bait-and-switch linked article? It's rambling on about feminism, with none of the cost analysis I was expecting.

I'm all for permanently axing the penny, nickel, and dollar bill.

Paper money can reportedly carry more germs than a household toilet. And bills are a hospitable environment for gross microbes: viruses and bacteria can live on most surfaces for about 48 hours, but paper money can reportedly transport a live flu virus for up to 17 days.

That’s why it’s best to spend it as fast as possible.
Health reasons.

It is time to bring back the $500 and $1000 bills.

Screw the government and their fight on drug money. We need bigger bills nowadays.

paper and coin are not far from obsolete

at this point I only need cash for my french bakery

(really annoying he will only take cash)

and checks, I only use for oil deliveries

(also an annoyance)

maybe the conversation should be about further weening people off paper and coin and saving the cost of printing and minting?:scratch2:

I like cash.

I don't want to see it go.
