Denali Loose Grounding lug
 

Been a long time Shunyata user, power cables and conditioners. A few years ago I purchased a new Denali 6000T and have been happy with its performance, and still am. However when redoing some ground cables I found one on the grounding lugs was loose. Being the no fear DIY guy am I removed one of the side panels for a closer look. Sure enough the nut that secured the lug had backed off some. A little odd since I’ve only been using a banana plug on this terminal. Anyway I tighten the nut and decided I’d check all the components inside.
I also found the two filters(?) (these have brown wires that feed the top two AC outlets)that mount to the inside of the front plate above the power switch were also loose. The uppermost units nut had almost backed all the way off. So just as I had with the grounding lug I snugged them up and moved on. Everything else seemed fine and I did also check the remaining hardware and wiring throughout the unit. I
I’m 99% sure the unit has not been opened since it was made as all the torx bolts made a crisp snap noise as they were initially unscrewed. I will also state that none of this seemed to have any effect on the units operation as I had no perceived issues before discovering the loose ground lug. I also did not notice any difference or “improvement” upon the units return to the system.

This post is not here to bash Shunyata in any way but more as advise to others that a regular check on your systems cabling and connections should be a regular occurrence. Prior to this I honestly would never give any of this a second thought, that has now changed.

I had this happen in on different Esoteric chassis groung lugs as well (P03U, D03, C02, P02). It is natural IMHO and occurs over time and normal use....i check mine now about 2x per year.

I'm sorry this occurred. We haven't run into the issue, but certainly with shipping and handling it's possible for something to loosen. I'll let our production team know. Perhaps you could send the serial number -- to the e-mail below so we can track its history. This also registers the product with us.

When you notice any issue that may require opening our units its always a great idea to reach out to us via phone or e-mail. There can be hazards to opening and poking around electrical or electronic products. We lifetime warranty our power distributor products through multiple owners, so were there to be a service issue we would be ready to help, as we have for the past 20 years.

Occasionally, we receive power cords or power distributors back for warranty repair that have been cut or pried open, parts and wires replaced or damaged through others hands-work etc. Our warranties do not stretch quite that far... :)
