Gotta gloat
After researching via the 'net and buying what I needed, I am proud to say I have resurrected my 2005 Phillips plasma by soldering in two new capacitors. I have little knowledge of this type of electrical detail and feel really good the u it powered up successful after my surgery and looks great! Color me happy! Just saying.

Craig.......Way to go. I had a similar incident and success with a Samsung monitor a few years ago. It would flicker then go dim and was very slow to turn on. I researched the model number online for known problems, found several people who had the same issues and discovered it was two capacitors that usually fail. I popped the front bezel off, removed some screws to get to the main circuit board and sure enough, there were two leaking caps. I replaced both, reassembled the monitor, pressed the power button and was back in business. It's a good feeling when you can solve your own problems.
