Playstation 4 audio output

Don't know if I should post this thread here, but here goes. I've been wondering about which audio output of the Playstation 4 is best and I am curious what you guys think.

The audio options for the PS4 are:
Linear PCM
Bitstream (Dolby)
Bitstream (DTS)

As far as my knowledge goes when selecting PCM the source decodes the signal. With Bitstream the source just takes the signal from a Blu-ray, game or whatever and sends it to the processor/AV-receiver, which then decodes it. But what confuses me are the options Dolby and DTS. This would mean that the PS4 still does something to the signal. For example when you select Bitstream (DTS) and are watching something with a DTS-HD track, it converts it to Dolby. Or am I completely wrong :scratch2:

Linear PCM (Best) Lossless.

Bitstream (Meh) Lossy....

I suspect the options might be used for games only. The PS4 like most consoles can dynamically create a surround DTS/DD soundtrack for its games (cars/spaceships/gunshots around you)

I dont believe it transcodes a DD soundtrack to DTS.
