McIntosh C1100 vibration isolation advice.
Hi everyone, I need some advice about vibration control for the C1100.
Thanks. [emoji3] |
Stillpoints Ultra SS :ok:

I have Stillpoints under and between both units of my C1100 and it sounds great to me. I also use a Symposium shelf under the Stillpoints on the bottom to isolate even more which is even more pleasing to me.

+1. SP Minis under both C1100 components along with an HRS damper on top. I know they improve isolation. Not as sure I can hear a difference. Putting GoldLions in my C1100 had a more noticeable improvement but like many have stated here and elsewhere, isolation and related tweaks are an additive property that improve SQ. Upper end of the bang for the buck curve IMHO. |
In which way do the Gold Lions tailor the sound compared to the stock tubes?

Compared to the OEM tubes, they made everything ‘rounder’ - more full with equal detail. A guitar sounded more natural. A low E guitar string sounds like it is in the room. I remember the sound stage was equally good in comparison. |

The same can be said when I place four Stillpoints Ultra Mini's under each of my C2300 preamplifier, Aurender N100H music server, Schiit Yggdrasil DAC, and Simaudio Moon Neo 260D transport in the living room system. Stillpoints are definately worth the investment. |

Not sure if you are being serious but for some crazy reason your question made me think of making a prank phone call and asking “Do you have Sir Walter Raleigh in a can?” Seriously though. Isolation via a product such as Stillpoints aims to eliminate micro vibration in our equipment. In the case of Stillpoints, direct the vibration away from the equipment and convert it to heat. Think about it. In a room with lots of energized sound waves bouncing about, almost everything in the room will be vibrating to some extent. We go to lengths trying to isolate our equipment from this vibration or at least reduce it. |
Not to mention transformer related vibrations.
