Opinions sought: Marantz SA-KI Ruby vs Luxman D-05U replacement
I know that the people on this forum probably have a built-in preference, but I'll ask anyway:
My Esoteric SACD player died catastrophically, & my turntable was already out of commission, so at the moment I have no way to play music. Unfortunately, this is bad timing for me to make a big expenditure on anything. The only candidates I've come up with in my current price range are the Marantz SA-KI Ruby or the replacement for the Luxman D-05U, which probably won't be available until September at the earliest. Obviously, no one has yet heard the D-05U replacement, but has anyone heard both the D-05U & the Marantz SA-KI Ruby? If so, how would you compare them? If I opt for the Luxman, it would mean 3 months with no music for me, so it would need to be significantly better for me to wait. What do you think? Or any other alternatives? Another option- there are a number of very good, relatively inexpensive streamers. Grab one of them and a Qobuz subscription to carry you until you find, and can get, what you really want.

Thanks, but it will probably be 2 years or more before I will have more "disposable" income, (I need to replace my entire kitchen, etc.) & I don't want to live with a mediocre stop-gap for that long...

The Technics SL-G700 is another option.
Very decent SACD player and it streams. Good reviews in various magazines. Stereoplay (Germany) rated it high. What Hifi: https://www.whathifi.com/reviews/technics-sl-g700 |
Thanks! I'm sorely tempted (aren't we all) to exceed my budget and get a Marantz SA-10 (even though I know I shouldn't.) It's a shame there aren't more SACD players in 3K-7K range...
Streaming is a fine "extra", but I'd rather have the cost invested in better sound quality... |

From a trusted seller, fairly priced. Could be just the ticket. |
Thanks!
