LeMans 2019

Two weeks and a day before the great race. I am watching a series on LeMans on Amazon Prime. If you like racing, watch this series. If you race, you should love it and want to immediately get in your race car.

I will be sure to check it out. If it’s anywhere near as good as the F1 series on Netflix it will be a real treat.

Puma Cat 06-02-2019 05:50 PM

I will check it out for sure. I love endurance racing...

Mikado463 06-03-2019 10:54 AM

heading to the Glen at months end for the 'six hour', anyone else attending ?

Is there any relation to the movie with McQueen (which is not as good as people want it to be IMO).

Not that I can figure out. This is a documentary that follows a few teams as they prepare for and execute the race.

antipop 06-07-2019 09:48 AM

I started watching it and it's quite addictive. Thanks for the recommendation

How can a movie that has Porsche 917Ks literally traveling at >240 mph not be good? :p :D

Because it's the only thing it has. There's no storytelling, no dialogue, no tension. It's a bunch of home video footage from the race.

Compare it to something like day of thunder or rush, those have a story to tell and that makes a massive difference.

I'm a massive fan of McQueen and of racing.

PS: the picture is great and the car is stunning

I binge watched it and it's really cool. You can really see the challenge of the race and everything that can go wrong. Cars and drivers are pushed to their limits.

It's sad that Audi and Porsche are no longer participating in the LMP1 but that has opened the place to more independent teams so let's see.

I've also watched Formula 1 on Netflix and it's really cool as well.

The battle between Porsche and Audi is greatly missed. It was like a Cold War and might have bankrupted one of them! ;).

I have the Netflix series on F1 on my list.

But excited to watch the Lemans this weekend!

Yes...........

Paul Newman & Steve McQueen. Two Hollywood types who were truly 'larger than life'. Especially Newman (McQueen might have been if he had not be struck down by cancer at 50).

I don't like the dominators, got bored stiff with Audi, so we should have a closer more exciting race this year.

And, no electric motor drives unless the power comes directly from solar, wind or wave-action. If you are going to burn fossil-fuels for your power source then make it good old 100 octane racing gasoline in an internal combustion engine.

What US network is carrying it?

LeMans 2019

I just searched both “24” and “LeMans” on Direct TV and came up with nothing :(

BUT!!!

I found it will be on the MotorTrend (formerly Velocity) network, 281 on Direct TV as “FIA World Endurance Championship”.

What is wrong with calling the 24hrs of LeMans???

That is weird. But I got it! Thanks.

Great start for Corvette Racing.

I am watching the recorded race so I am about an hour or so behind.

After one hour of racing, the entire GT-Pro class are within sight of each other. Great racing.

The race is part of a larger championship hence the name but you’re right no one thinks of it that way.

Weirdcuba 06-15-2019 05:29 PM

The F1 series on Netflix is really good, and I’m not even a racing guy (at least that’s one expensive senseless hobby that I don’t have).

crwilli 06-16-2019 12:14 PM

Congrats to all the winners.

- The “I got screwed” award goes to Toyota Gazoo #7 for leading 23 hrs only to lose it in the last hour due to a puncture and sensor snafu.

- Corvette Racing had a tough race with driver errors both by them and by others added up to one car retiring early and the second finishing 8th or 9th in class —- it was leading up to around the 21st hour. Gutted.

At least Alonso did what Weber couldn't.

The race at the top was less than exciting Toyota was clearly ahead and unless they had both car failed they were sure of winning.

I found the Pro GT race to be a lot more exciting and it was a closer race than for the rest. The top 5 where all in the same lap with less than a minute between the top 3.
