803D2 Tweeter Mystery

Shocked to see the white cone in one of my two 803D2's shattered. Not transit damage since they have not been moved since new. Run 200 WPC power but surely never got about 30W. Do not believe they got tipped over. Remote chance the housesitter's son (who is very curious about electronics and likes to take stuff apart) took the screen off and gave the cone a poke, then cleaned up most of his mess after he saw what he did.

Oh, the tweeter seems to be functioning ok, at least after a very brief comparison to the good one.

In any event, no repair service for these right?

I hope you can get a discount. Same thing happened to a friend, except his son poked out both tweeters. Easy to replace, painful to obtain.

Kind of what I thought. Surprised no one is refirbing these babies given the replacement cost.

Next question is if the thing is still working (which it seems to be) is that soft cone just a piece of cosmetics?
