AudioGremlin's System
http://www.lurcher.org/ukra/mike_g/mike_g.html will give you a good idea however that site is now a bit outdated. The Source turntable is now a Sota Sapphire III, SP11 is now Manley Steelhead and the Lumley 120's are now Manley Neo-Classic 250's. The Koetsu was recently rebuilt. The system is presently dismantled for room decorating and recarpeting, should be back again in a few weeks (I'm missing it).

Great system. Love the Infinity´s. My first loudspeakers were the Kappa 5.
Best regards AM |
Hi Timbre,
The Kappa's are excellent too. I started out with RS2b's driven my Nestorovik Alpha 1's, a great combination until I heard the 1b's and had to have them. Then the Nestoroviks wouldn't drive them properly without red hot anodes :( the Lumley 120's were better but the Manlay NC250's easily drive them and sound very good too. |
Those speakers never fail to impress on looks alone! Unfortunately, I've never heard them :( I must rely on the legendary stories I hear about them instead.
Congrats on what must be an amazing system. |
The bass amplifier (NRG 401S) for my Infinity RS1b speakers died last night along with smoke from the right channel heatsink area :( Can't really complain as it managed twentyone years of excellent trouble free service. Not interested in a repair as I feel reliability due to age could be an issue.
Web searches for a suitable replacement not surprisingly date back many years, that set me wondering if anyone here could suggest a replacement? Anyone still using RS1b's I'd very much appreciate your opinion. |
Are you thinking of selling on the NRG...?
Regards |
Its a possibility. I still have the original packing plus the large wooden shipping crate, the operating manual plus a zerox copy of the service manual that NRG sent me prior to their closing.
Absolutely brilliant amplifier, huge current delivery - bass tuneful, tight and very powerful. |
I'd appreciate any suggestions on a modern bass amplifier for my Infinity RS1b speakers. Most high wattage amplifiers nowadays have balanced outputs that I don't believe are suitable. I thought about the Bryston 4BSst2 though don't think it had enough power to match the Manley 250's I use for the mid/top. Any suggestions very gratefully received.

I remember see those speakers a way back and thought they were the holy grail they use to cost a bomb.
Nice one |
Thanks paul1, I've got hifi withdrawal symptoms while the speakers are out of action :(
