A New Direction: Audio Note Amplifier / Antal Triangle Speakers

A New Direction: Audio Note / Triangle

Earlier in June, when my wife and I returned from holidays, I had planned to stop at an audio store in Ottawa, to listen to a couple of integrated tube amps to replace my Peachtree Decco. Part of my reasoning was that eventually, my wife and I would have to downsize and I wanted something really nice to have as I finally bid adieu to my McIntosh gear.

To make a long story short, I didn’t replace the Peachtree, instead I made a wholesale change to my main system. Not only did I sell all my McIntosh Electronics, I also sold my Bryston Model T’s. Call me crazy… but..

I was so surprised by what I was hearing. The pairing of the Audio Note gear and the Triangle Antal speakers was nothing short of simply amazing. I never thought I would be so captivated by a Class A Single ended Tube Amplifier.

I ordered the Audio Note SORO SE Signature Integrated amplifier, and I just took possession of it this past weekend. It’s been playing non-stop. While it still needs a couple of hundred hours of burn-in time, I must admit I’ve never heard anything like it. So far my only source is my SONOS, running through my W4S Remedy and a new Bryston BDA3. I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new Bryston CDP3, which is due out any day now.

It is very minimalist in features. It has a volume control (and no remote), an input selection switch (4 items, CD, CD2, Aux and Tuner) a Source/Tape switch and Balance control. The on/off switch is at the back.

Interestingly, enough, as I learned over the summer, Audio Note is rather a unique brand. There are a few reviews - very glowing reviews, but I did not find much on-line about Audio Note. In fact, Audio Note is hardly if ever mentioned here.

I tried taking some pictures, but they didn’t come out so great… so here are a couple of images I found online… Note: My intergrated amp is the SORO SE Signature, but it looks identical.

Rock, System looks great, and to make a "wholesale" change, it must sound magical!

Thank you gentlemen......

To be quite honest, I never ever thought I'd move away from McIntosh.. and I do miss 'ole blue eyes',.. but what I'm hearing is just.... delicious... really delicious...

I'm treading this same path, selling a C2300 + 2 X MC 275 MKV and buying an AN Soro SE Phono Signature!
