Amazon is purchasing 100,000 electric vans

Amazon is purchasing 100,000 Rivian electric vans, the largest order of EV delivery vehicles ever. That is more than all the electric vans in the World today.

They are digging something fierce across the street, it may be to support some of these vans

Looks like they won’t be delivering anything if it’s raining. I don’t see any windshield wipers. :)

I think that's just a computer rendering of the van...

I had heard that Amazon was going to abandon FEDEX and UPS and USPS, and implement their own logistics company, so this must be the way they're going to do it.

Side note: was reading a recent chapter of Schiit Happened that Schiit cannot get USPS to come by their facility to pick up shipments, even whey the PAY the USPS for pickups. So, looks like they are going to have to abandon USPS as a courier. Schiit's view is that no one at USPS cares...at all.

For several months all of my Amazon Prime deliveries arrive via their contracted vehicles. It is nice to be able to follow the delivery on my computer telling me exactly how many stops before the arrive at my home.

My understanding from a recent article is that Amazon contracts out the deliveries to other parties to avoid any responsibility in case of accidents, etc. Then they squeeze the companies they contract with so tight that things can get rough. I think they do the same thing with their own workers at their facilities. Maybe that’s how businesses are run but it does conflict me when choosing to order through Amazon.
