:D

Seems a bit small to me. Tweeter and upper mid might be too low for a normal listener's seat. But then again, this might be just what is needed in tiny living rooms. And it remains a 4-way speaker.
Anyway, looking forward to some listening impressions.

The G1 next to the G4.

Hmm. They left a G3 out in the rain and used the wrong drying cycle. The drivers look different. Is the third one smaller, hence the illusion of a larger dust cap.

There is nothing on the web site. I wonder if this means anything for the oval series. Probably not, it's not going to replace the lower non-G series models I don't think.

Re the small room suggestion, they have the B1 for small rooms. Mine are fine in a 4 by 6m semi open plan room. I guess G4 must sound better that the ovals, although wouldn't you go for a K1 over this. If the G3 is $40k then I guess this is $30k. Then you need some sort of stand or plinth for them. Interesting.

Ps just read the available blurb. So the mid range is about an inch smaller and they had to tweak the design to get the Giya sound. I guess the smaller driver means more excursion is required. Mind you, more excursion is required for the ovals as well as the lower front driver has to go deeper.

Sounds like they are doing ok volume wise, at least the G3 seems to be the sweet spot up to this point.

So you came here to disparage Vivids why, precisely?

That would be because he is a hifi retailer that sells a competing product. At least he is honest and puts it in his profile, assuming the profile is legit.

The internet is the playground of the bored and the mischievous. Interestingly, one of those links notes that Mr Dickie is ok with people not liking the look of his designs. It is clearly going to appeal to some folks more than others.

Better than having a bland box that no one notices. After all, the next question from our friend might be, why are they so ugly? This is a nice segway into why the design is a superior solution to the average shoe box or the more up market shoe box with a shiny finish.

I am not on this topic ''just'' to bash Vivid's. I really like the sound they produce, but the looks really don't do it for me. I am sorry if I offended anybody, that was absolutely not my intent.

I also find it ridiculous if retailers bash products just because they don't sell it. There are thousands of brands, and none of them does it wrong. All with their own perspective and philosophy. That is one of the many reasons I love this hobby:)

Joey, you know to an audiophile, it is worse to say "Damn your speakers are ugly" than "Damn your wife is ugly".:nono:
But I will forgive you this time. :D
