How do you like your Boulder gear GDS?

Not Boulder related per se but still relevant. I was fortunate to hang out with Dan D'Agostino while he was visiting one of his dealers and checking the store and his product. That subject came up while we were discussing amps. I remember him telling the dealer to quote, "leave them on".

Love it. *Exceedingly* neutral. Just plays music as it was intended by the artist, which gives me great pleasure! Won't make a bad recording sound good, but makes you forget you're listening to a recording for the rest. Very happy to have found the brand, after many other combinations (which I look back onto fondly, including owning Ayre 20, Classe, Nuforce Reference, B&W 800, with in-home demo of Audio Research Reference, Sim Audio). I enjoyed hours and hours and hours of music on my previous systems. Boulder is like a river running clean pure water. They say their intention is no sonic signature. I agree.

My (non-Boulder) amps stay on 24x7x365, which is one reason I don't own tubed amps or big Class A Pass amps. :D

Different manufacturer, but I have a Jeff Rowland 625 S2. I just talked Mr Rowland two days ago. He said, "leave DAC and preamp on all the time, but turn the amp off everyday."

Different equipment also, but EJ Sarmento (Wyred 4 Sound and SST) told me to turn the equipment off. His belief is that after the initial 500 hours give or take, the equipment warms up completely in an hour or so. Leaving the equipment on all the time is just shortening it's life.

When I worked as a Firefighter/Paramedic I would always chat up the radio technicians when they came to the station to check our radio equipment. I remember looking in the room and noticed that they were old units and were on 24/7 and 365 days a year for dispatches over the fire station radio communications system. They seemed to live a long life? :D

My Pass XA160.5 I have them off while not listening to them. Way too expensive to leave on 24/7. When I plan to listen I turn them on at least 4 hours before hand. Then I'm in my nirvana! :music:

I turn off my Boulder 3060 and 2060, by that I mean they are in standby mode. I think I asked Rich Maez about this when I got the 2060 and he told me there is no real benefit to leaving them on 24/7 because of the way the standby was designed. That was over 5 years ago so my recollection might be off. I also have the 1008 phono stage. I have been putting this in standby also.

When I leave for extended periods I disconnect them.
