Marantz model 20 Tuner repair - hopefully around atlanta??

Have come into possession of a marantz model 20 tuner that I' d like to have checked out and updated. I am not a diy'er by any means. Any suggestions, hopefully around Atlanta? I hate to pack this thing up and ship it.

Thanks in advance. Weirdcuba

Terry DeWick in Knoxville would be the "go to" guy for your Marantz Model 20 if were mine. Terry will make it as perfect as you might want. He does terrific work. Unfortunately, he is away for the month of February.

GordonW, a member on the AudioKarma forum, is a well known/respected tube amp & speaker builder in the Atlanta area. However, I don't believe that Gordon works on tuners, but you can contact him through the AK forum and ask. It takes a special set of tools/test equipment to do a proper job on tuners. Many fine techs for amps and other gear won't work on tuners. I'm a bit of 'tuner geek' and I'll only let a couple of techs work on my tuners. Terry is at the top of my list, but I would trust Gordon if he does the work or knows someone who he would recommend other than Terry.

I thought of Terry and would gladly drive it up there, but his website says that he's not working on anything but McIntosh stuff. If I've got a shot at having Terry work on it, I'd love to have him do it. I'll email him and see what happens.

Thanks very much. It's too nice of a piece to take a chance on.

Believe if you read carefully it states 'McIntosh and Vintage Tube..........". It has been like that for a while as everyone wants Terry to restore their vintage solid-state Pioneer, Sansui, Marantz, whatever. Am guessing he is reading his e-mail whilst basking in the warmth, so let us know what he says. If no, I'll ask GordonW for contact info, if you wish.

I've always had a fancy for vintage Marantz, and the model twenty is high on my list. Good luck!

Heard from GordonW:
"The only person I know from a body of previous experience, is Modular Electronics in Roswell GA. If you look up "modular electronics roswell GA" you should find them. I know the guy there has all the proper equipment do this, and he does good work."
