Audeze LCD-4 arrived today

Straight out of the box and hooked up to the C1100 and they sound simply stunning. This, once I can identify the appropriate headphone amp, will form the basis of the only second system I will have ever owned.

Enjoy your new headphones, they are amazing. I tried a pair in Vancouver and was very close to buying them. The bass is fantastic. I chose the Focals but these are equally as good.

Very nice! Did you decide upon a dedicated headphone amp yet? I bought several including the Deckard and the iFi Pro iCan for its tube or FET output stage.

I personally really love the Burson Conductor V2+. It offers 8 watts of power and is very reasonably priced.

Many thanks for the positive comments. Still breaking them in but already feel that they are tightening up and becoming more revealing. I take my hat off to the designers, despite their weight, they sit incredibly comfortably even after an extended listening session. Regarding a headphone amp, I'm in no hurry and would like to sample a few before committing. Does anyone have any experience of the recently produced Audeze 'The King' headphone amp?

Highly recommend the Dragon Inspire IHA-1 headphone tube amp. Handbuilt by Dennis Had, retired founder of Cary Audio. He had the LCD-3 headphones in mind when designing this amp.

The LCD 4's and Wireworld cables sound fantastic on my Moon 430. They will mate well with any good amplifier. You may want to check out the EAR Hp-4 as well.

The difficulty I have is finding opportunities to audition kit. As it happens Robert, the EAR Hp-4 is one that I will experience. The review of the Dragon IHA-1 is very promising but again, would be very difficult for me to hear one in advance of making a final purchase.

What did you think of the EAR

I use an Aurilac Taurus headphone amp with my Focal Utopias and have heard your headphones through one also. They are a fantastic combination.

Similar setup running on a Woo tube amp with all upgrades. The combo with tubes seems so perfect to me. Congrats on the 4s and yes a nice amp will be huge over the 1100, when I plug them into the c500 it is not in the same league as the Woo, you are in for a serious treat as soon as you get a nice dedicated amp.

I also have a Moon 430 with my LCD-4's....this is a magnificent HP but one that will not be able to shine without ample power....do not skimp on amplification if you spend 4K on these beuaties

I was just recently at CanJam NYC 2017 and this was my experience... For the first 2-3 minutes, I was getting really annoyed because I thought a live band had started playing in the showroom. I was thinking to myself, "Why in the heck would they invite a live band to play at a headphone convention?! That is just plain stupid! I am trying to demo a headphone setup! Knock it off! Wouldn't it be funny if this system was fooling me into thinking that a live band was playing in the room? No way! That's not possible!"

Then I realized there was no live band in the showroom. I had been tricked! Their setup sounded so real that I had been totally convinced a real band was playing in the room. That is simply amazing! My highest recommendation. By far the best sounding setup at the show. I liked it even more that the new Sennheiser Orpheus HE-1 that costs $55,000. :yes:

For what it is worth, the dac they were using was the PS Audio PerfectWave DirectStream Junior Dac.

Keep in mind, not all tracks offered that level of realism but some sure did. It was incredible!
