N30sa

As I was confined to my home for most parts of last year I started to look for home improvement projects. For some reason I started with my audio system :music:

My Aurender S10 got a new friend, a Brinkmann Nyquist Mk2. Stage 1 of the home improvement project finished! After hearing with the Nyquist for a couple of months I thought the 10 year old Aurender S10 should also be exchanged against the new N30SA. I had been tempted by the W20SE, I loved the sound but I don't like the concept - battery banks and so on. The N30SA with its 2 housings to separate the noisy stuff from the delicate output generation appeared like a better concept.

Yesterday my dealer arrived with a big black cube, the nice shipping box with the N30SA. After playing through the night and the day, the new Aurender is now already in good form.

I did not know how good my Burmester powered KEFs could sound! Stage 2 of project home improvement accomplished.

 for the N30SA.

Cheers,
Ecki

Congrats Ecki, sounds like you’ve put together a great home improvement.

This deserves some photos please [emoji38]

Ecki... great system!

Solartiger 11-03-2021 12:52 PM

Thanks for the comments. I know, photos were missing. I was too busy listening to music. But of course you are right, here they are:

The N30 looks very nice. Congrats.

Reports are now out that it does better than Taiko Audio Extreme which costs more. That's impressive!

Mind sharing where are the sources of report? Thanks

JoeN 11-16-2021 09:07 AM

They were from a guy on the AS forum. Another test is being done soon by another guy on WTB. Both parties own both pieces, etc.

kimurastanley 11-16-2021 09:08 AM

Thanks. I manage to find just shortly after my previous post.

JoeN 11-16-2021 09:43 AM

Awesome. They are both SOTA. I have the N30SA on order. Hopefully it will be here next week.

I've had the N30 now for a few days. The improvement over the N100H and ACS10 that I've been streaming from is astounding. While it is still breaking in you can hear the difference in all sonic ranges. It is so musical. Wow!!!

JoeN 11-23-2021 12:30 PM

Ecki,

How long did it take your N30 to break in? I only have 30 hours on it so far, but I can tell mine is beginning to blossom some.

Congratulations. It took long to sound perfect. It was 3 or 4 days of constant playing before the magic happened.

Lessons learned so far:

The critical listening mode sounds better!

I can connect via USB audio with a Shunyata Sigma cable (use the clock of the DAC) or AES
with an In-Akustik Reference Digital 2404 Air Pure Silver (use the clock of the Aurender). The AES signal path using the Aurender clock sounds clearly better.

Streaming through the Aurender sounds amazingly good too but local music clearly beats streaming.

JoeN 11-30-2021 02:09 PM

Thanks for your response. Mine is sounding better and better. Finally beginning to open up some. I’m using with an EMM DA2 v2 DAC and EMM PRE. It definitely sounds better on critical listening mode.

Are you using USB or AES?

JoeN 11-30-2021 03:02 PM

USB - Shunyata Sigma. It sounds better with the EMM DAC. I haven’t tried a Gobel Lacorde Statement USB cable yet. They are supposed to be even better - which at this point I’m finding difficult to believe.

I have the EMM Transport coming and it will have an optical cable on it. The Aural Symphonics Optimism Fiber Optic is 2.5K. :scratch2:

Try the Shunyata Omega USB....it's a whole other level above the Sigma.

JoeN 11-30-2021 07:27 PM

Ok I may do that. I need to compare it to the Gobel I mentioned above. Many thanks.

I found the following brand on the roonlabs forum (EmmLabs NS1 thread),
Lifatec Glass fiber cables, they make them also on request with the At&T connectors (EmmLabs), my dealer bought a few of them for 150,- USD a piece.
He is very happy with them, noticable improvement over the stock cable.

JoeN 12-01-2021 07:40 AM

I'll have to check that out. That would save a ton of $$$

Many thanks.

I also have one of those.

JoeN 12-01-2021 02:38 PM

Well imprezap2, Levitator, and FRO this is sounding like a very good cable. Many thanks for the suggestion. I’ll be checking it out. Thanks again.

imprezap2 12-01-2021 06:48 PM

worth a try, these optical cables don't break the bank.

That’s true. One I’m looking at costs $2500. Lots of difference. But I have to hear them both.

FRO 11-10-2022 11:07 AM

Just checking back on your N30 cable recommendations.
How about power cables that make a difference??

FRO 12-08-2022 12:17 AM

Dark Matter LPS > Darker Matter Emperor Clock > Uptone EtherRegen > Aurender N30 w/Transparent Opus power cord.
Sounds heavenly!
