VAC Master line stage has found a new home!

Well... it's official! C-1100 has shipped out today, and the VAC Master pre will be taking it's place! As much as I loved the Mac, this thing is ridiculous! As it should be for 2X the money, and no phono stage. It is truly stunning what the 2301's and Strads are capable of! I don't think Jodie is going to let me go to RMAF next year!
I never thought I would ever have a system of this caliber. I am a very happy boy!

Mr. Hayes and team makes some really nice toys. Congrats!

Congrats Rob! You better not let Jodie make you guys skip out next year since I’m planning on bringing my wife! Gonna try and sell her with the new resort and spa appeal! BTW, I’m sure that VAC will have show specials on their amplifiers too!:thumbsup:

Thanks Buck! No, we will be there. I was visiting GreginNH1 the other night, and he was asking his wife if she would consider going next year, if Jodie went. She seemed open to it as well. We had a great time, and I wouldn't miss an opportunity to hang out with you all again!
I need some time to recover, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time before there are VAC monos being demo'd in my living room. :D

Only a few this far in advance????

Congrats Rob!!!

Yep, I don't think you'll have any regrets! Current VAC gear sounds absolutely amazing. I had their entry-level Renaissance V line stage in my system a few months ago, and its lifelike midrange made my jaw drop. But in the end I stuck with my (also lovely) REF 6 because I listen to a lot of hard rock & metal. That said, wish I could have tried an "SE" version or a higher model (Master may be a bit too rich for my remaining blood).

I run the VAC Renaissance SE phono stage, which I think is beyond stellar. I also heard the SE vs. non-SE phono; those Jupiter caps and naked resistors really make a difference!

Rob, your new VAC preamp looks fantastic in your rack. Enjoy.

FDPDK 11-09-2018 01:26 PM

Those VAC look great. Am sure they are good.

Vac

Outstanding system, Rob! The VAC gear is stunning.
Curious - what is the complex looking piece of kit located on the top center?

Thank you very much! That is a Manley Massive Passive EQ, which I just sold. The VAC leaves me not wanting to tweak anything about it!

Congrats on the new preamp. I'm curious as to how much better the Statement would be over the Master. Or do I dare ask that question for the sake of everyone's wallet?...lol.

GreginNH1 11-09-2018 08:20 PM

Looking great Rob! I can’t wait to hear the new set-up!

Unless I win the lottery, I dare not even entertain that thought.
However, I would like to put the ARC Ref 10 to a head, to head comparison.

Thank you, Tom. It's quite a bit more extended on the top. Works well to compensate for my high frequency hearing damage! :music:

GreginNH1 11-11-2018 05:32 PM

I just got home after spending an hour at Rob’s house. The addition of the VAC pre-amp has taken his system to a much higher level. All I can say is WOW!

Thanks for having me over a Rob, it was quite an experience! Congrats on the new arrival.

Thank you Greg. I appreciate the kind words, and you are welcome anytime.

Absolutely beautiful. Really. But you are now suffering from a unique audiophile condition known as upgradeitis. It's also contagious.

I've been suffering from the condition for a couple of years now. It doesn't seem to be getting any better! My wife just laughs at me now, when I tell her, "I think I'm done"!

Vac Statement 450 or Statement 450 IQ? It's inevitable you know.

Robc33 11-13-2018 01:26 PM

That's what I'm afraid of!!! :tears:
