New Confidence line

The new Confidence line has my attention. I really like the aesthetics and form factor. The new line is not only a replacement for the existing Confidence line but it will also replace the current Evidence line up. A Dynaudio rep at Munich has publicly stated that the Confidence 60 is EASILY the best speaker Dynaudio has ever created. That’s a mouthful!

I agree. Older confidence line looks much better than current new ones.

I agree the previous design is good looking too but it’s also a bit weird at same time. I like how new design still has the unique front baffle but doesn’t stick out so far as the old design with respect to the cabinet. Also, the black side “wings” from the over-sized baffle onto the otherwise gorgeous finishes was always a black eye on an otherwise beautiful design. So glad they dropped that look. The rounded cabinet contour is also a welcome change.

j3brow 05-12-2018 11:14 AM

The new design is also reduced height compared with the C4, another good thing IMO.

I agree on older confidence height issue. Sometimes i felt C4 is too tall. I loved both older and current contour design.

So will Bob Katz get rid of his M5P and buy the Confidence 60?

Looks like Dynaudio has learned from Revel. Cabinet looks similar to Salon2. Wave guide for single tweeter, check.

Need to see measurement data.

Dynophile 05-12-2018 08:19 PM

They look good. Looking forward to auditioning the Confidence 20, the long awaited Evidence level bookshelf.

Arcilius 05-13-2018 01:14 PM

Saving plan for Confidence 20 has already started!
Focal Diablo/Wilson Sabrina purchase debate cancelled.

brianle 05-13-2018 01:56 PM

I can confirm that my C4 still look good ;)

Wow. Not only are they BEAUTIFUL to look at but they are absolutely gorgeous SOUNDING too. Thanks for posting. Enjoy those Danish beauties. I much prefer the Original/Sig II, like yours, with the silver accents on the front baffle as opposed to the all black baffle and mounts of the Platinum version, very classy speakers.

brianle 05-14-2018 08:51 PM

Thanks, j3brow!

I prefer the looks of the new series to the old one. The old ones were too tall and too narrow. At the end of the day sound comes first for me so it doesn't really matter how they look! :D

Props for keeping option for real wood finish. Most of the high-end speakers have switched to automotive finishes.

jojo 02-17-2019 08:45 AM

When is the new series of the speaker is available?

I hear it's been delayed. I couldn't wait for the Confidence 20 any longer and moved to Focal.

stev809 04-12-2019 05:53 PM

Confidence 20 on display at axpona today.

avsBuddy 04-12-2019 06:01 PM

Is it on active display? Can you comment on it's sound.
Oh and - pics or it didn't happen!

avsBuddy 04-17-2019 03:07 PM

Wow, this site is not very busy.
Did everyone retire? :D

New Confidence line

A friend/long time industry guy sent me a video of the Conf20 playing, he thought they sounded fantastic. Sounded that way to me too via video. Look forward to hearing them myself someday. They said the pair at Axpona was only the 2nd pair in the country. Talk about a long roll out. Announced new Confidence last May at Munich.

Jerome W 04-18-2019 12:19 PM

Hello folks,
I listened to the Confidence 20 speakers a few weeks ago at my Paris dealer. To say that they impressed me a lot is an understatement.
I just cannot remove them from my brains and I feel like I «*need*» to get a pair.

msr 06-23-2019 08:05 AM

Any new opinions about theses Confidence speakers.

Strojo 11-17-2019 01:57 PM

Any new Confidence owners out there? I heard a pair of the 20’s at a local dealer...nice sound, but a little light on the bottom for my tastes. Thinking the 30’s might be a better fit.

Dynophile 11-18-2019 06:32 PM

I listened to a pair of Confidence 20. My impression of the new Confidence 20 is that it has more warmth and more resolution compared to the previous generation Confidence C1.

Personally, I wouldn't draw any definitive conclusions about Dyns heard at a dealer unless they've been verifiably documented to have been run in with >300 hours of run-time.

Chris838 11-19-2019 12:29 PM

Is anyone running these meanwhile? I’m almost sold on some SF homage tradition but consider these as alternatives... im probably not the only one with this chain of thought, or am I?

LarsT 01-23-2020 10:19 AM

I recently purchased the Confidence 20, and I absolutely love them. I have a Fathom 110 to help with low end. My ears have never been happier.

mcpaf76 01-23-2020 03:58 PM

I have Contour 20s and I love them, I can imagine how good the Confidence are.

Jerome W 02-06-2020 04:17 AM

Hello folks,
I felt in love with the Confidence 20 last year.
2 days ago I went to listen to the Confidence 30.
In one word they are awesome.
The electronics were from CH Precision and I would have loved more flesh in the mids ( I found the C20 warmer with a Luxman class A integrated ) and the dealer told me that this was due to the CH character.
Can’t wait to listen to the big Confidence 60 in 2 to 3 weeks.
My next main speakers will be either C30, C50 or C60.
True High End sound without usually associated shortcomings to me ie hyperanalysis, coldness and lack of soul.

Very exciting to read this, congrats Jerome!!! The Confidence 50 has been on my radar for a while now. Maybe end of year or next, currently have Contour 60 as main speakers. I look forward to your comments once you bring them home.

W9TR 02-06-2020 10:06 AM

Hey Jerome,
Nice to hear from you. I’ll have to take a listen to the new Dynaudio speakers. I hope all is well with you and your family.
Tom

Hello Bart,

Yes they clearly have an incredible expertise.

Strojo 07-15-2020 09:19 PM

Any new owners since February?

UCrazyKid 09-11-2020 04:54 PM

Heard the Confidence C20 at AXPONA in ‘18 and ‘19. The Esotar3 tweeter is amazing. The sound stage is huge and the sweet spot is gigantic. Much easier to place than the Confidence C1 Platinums I have at home now. .
