Hey pstrisik, the large silver Jantzen cap beside the power trans is a filter cap, the large red cap beside the choke is another filter cap, the two smaller red caps are the bias caps along with the little black caps that are on top of them and of course the two jantzens down front are the coupling caps...straitwire

Peter,

The coupling caps are the pair of Silver Zs. They couple the driver to the output tubes. They are the only ones which pass audio signal. The other caps deal with power filtration.

Others can correct or elaborate. My understanding is meager.

I have no $$$ boutique stuff and often use different brands in different places. It's really about synergy in your system. What works for me may not be optimal for you. If the Mundorf EVO's work in the big amp they may be stellar in the Hot Rod.

Decooney, your speakers may just need 50 watts to come alive and there is nothing wrong with that.

Cool, thanks. Agree, all depends on what you like. Yep, my larger speakers shine with 50wpc Triode or 100w UL from the big V12R. That amp and speakers combo "aint going nowhere any time soon". Built a second set of 19" monitors for the Inspire Hot Rod. Sounds pretty good, just don't have a good place to leave it out. My Inspire listening time is kinda limited.

Thanks straitwire and BearCityUSA. Which are the typically referred to as "bypass caps".

Edit: Maybe you meant bypass instead of bias?

Hey pstrisik, I use the term filter cap because they are connected to ground, and when I said bias caps I meant the output tubes cathode bypass caps...straitwire

Thanks. I've got to do some reading!

I should have said cathode bypass capacitors...my bad!

Ok, thanks again. I was googling terms and getting confused!

Sold the Inspire KT150 Hot Rod today to a real nice guy who's downsizing to a condo. This lower power amp gave me a chance to test/modify some of my own custom speaker configurations. Some sort of custom monoblocks are next, as tbd.

Hats off to the truly dedicated members here who share ideas and information to make this thread interesting for existing and new owners. It's been fun, Thanks.
