Stillpoints Ultra 6’s & McIntosh Mono Blocks
Just purchased Ultra 6’s for my McIntosh mono blocks from the Maestro Ivan. As always he was an absolute pleasure to deal with and is the man. Curious who else is using Stillpoints with their McIntosh amps and how your using them. Are you using the adapters/threads and just replacing the stock feet? Or are you strategically placing them under the chassis of the amp? And if so where is the sweet spot? Thank you.

Wow, I bet the Ultra 6's will sound great under your Mc mono's. I have just the Ultra SS under my 601's and thought they were worth it. Ivan sent me the treaded adaptors so I am using them threaded directly into the 601's replacing the stock feet. Because of the size and weight of the amps I was afraid to just have the amps resting on the Stillpoints. I do like having the Stillpoints on Symposium platforms for even more isolation.

I read your review and it was a great read! Really well written and informative. I wish I could write that well just once! I read that you used the McIntosh adapters which I am leaning towards doing. I am posing the question bc I read that Bruce from Stillpoints recommends not using the threads and instead placing the Ultra 6’s under the chassis without the adapters. Which leaves me uncertain as what to do as I am getting conflicting advice from 2 sources that I trust. So was wondering what other people were doing out there. |

Thank you, I can’t wait to get them installed under the amps! I am leaning towards the thread way as well but then I can’t use the ultra bases that way. This hobby is going to cause me to pull all of my hair out of my head haha |

I’ll be waiting for the hair product delivery haha. |
Ivan, that’s funny!
My vote is strategic placement under power supplies, transformers etc based on playing with this - try both minor investment and let you guide yourself |
How did it go with the Ultra 6's?

I ended up going a different route. Used Stillpoints 5’s under my speakers and Stillpoints SS’s under all my components |
So JBags, did you end up with SS’s under the amps as well? Assume you went with the threads as well??
Be great to hear if you have noticed a discernible difference as I’m thinking about the same with my 1.2Kw Macs |
Lurk. Stillpoints on order.

http://www.audioaficionado.org/showthread.php?t=39287 There is a very discernible difference when using these on MC601’s and MC1.2KW’s also. |

Hi Levitator, So I want to be completely honest with you and tell you that I have not heard the 611’s without the SS’s. I purchased the amps and immediately swapped out the stock feet for the Stillpoints SS’s before even putting it in my rack. With that said I powered everything up today for the first time and without any break in everything sounds pretty amazing. Ivan posted Dan’s review above which I found very informative and helpful. |
Thanks gents - it looks like there is compelling evidence to instal on the amps although my next challenge, outside of lifting the suckers to put the feet on, is to see if they will fit in my rack given it will lift the height of the amps slightly and I’ve got minimal space at the moment...

In terms of fitting in the rack...I found out the hard way. I put the feet on my P20 and then when I went to put it back in my rack it wouldn’t fit. So I had to buy another post to make that shelf higher. This hobby is truly never ending haha |
Know what you mean - I’ve already gone to maximum column height after moving out my 452 amp to make way for the 1.2KW beasts!
