Sub placement question

Th only way I can get corner placement is to place my sub in a corner right behind one of my floorstanders so that the floorstander would only be 12 inches in front of the sub's grille.
Or I can keep it out of the corner and unobstructed next to the other floorstander.
Which is better?
Is bass truly that omnidirectional that the sub can be partially obstructed?

That will be fine, the sub can be partially obstructed.

Depends on what sounds best. The manual says to place the sub further out from the corner to get a more smoother sound.

Yes, not all the way in the corner but a little away from it. My subs are about 9 inches away from the corner. I noticed that when I toed them in to match the speakers, the bass became a little more coherent overall. I guess it helps to match the wave launch of the speaker's woofer. :scratch2:

My Gotham's are toed in a bit also.

It is not "ideal" to allow vibration to affect speakers or electronics. Speaker manufacturers go to great lengths to eliminate resonance from cabinets. Having a sub pointed at a speaker cannot be beneficial.

Stillone, my gut instincts tell me the same thing. Even if bass IS that omnidirectional.

You obviously don't want the sub to be right up against the speaker but if it is a few feet away should be more than fine. I have both subs behind my speakers peaking out from behind them, I've played bass test tones and can't even feel a tiny bit of quiver from the Sophia 2 cabinets.
