New Kaleidescape Strato Movie Players w/ increased storage

"Today we introduced two new storage options for the Kaleidescape Strato Movie Player. In addition to the 6TB option, Strato is now available with either 8 or 10TB of storage to better accommodate the very high fidelity HDR 4K Ultra HD movies available from the Kaleidescape Movie Store.

Kaleidescape takes pride in providing movie lovers with the finest movie downloads, in uncompromised 4K Ultra HD with high dynamic range, complete with lossless multichannel and object-oriented audio. This amazing video and audio quality is achieved using playback bit rates that are well beyond those of any Internet streaming service.

The highest capacity Strato Movie Player, with 10TB of internal storage, can store up to 180 HDR 4K movies. Additional Strato players, or a Terra server, can be added for even greater storage capacity.

We are now accepting orders for 6, 8, and 10TB Strato movie players, for shipment within 5 business days. The prices for these configurations are as follows:

Player/Storage MSRP (USD)

Strato Player 6TB - $4,495
Strato Player 8TB - $4,995
Strato Player 10TB -$5,995

Terra Server 24TB -$7,995
Terra Server 40TB -$12,995

I just added a Kaleidescape 40TB Storage Server. This will allow me to store well over 1000 BluRays. :)

I now have one in each home.

Today I received a 2nd Kaleidescape 40TB Terra Server for use in Cape Cod. With nearly 100TB of movie storage total, I can keep thousands of Blu Rays on them.

They will store all formats; SD, HD, HDR, 4K. In addition, I have many dozens of Concerts on them. I thoroughly enjoy being able to go instantly to a song, chapter, or Demo scene. Also creating video playlists for demo purposes is easy and a real treat.

Both Audio and Video is indistinguishable from the physical media. If there is a downside, it would only be the cost.

I will post some photos...

Yup, I started with 10TB to test the water. I liked it a lot and added 40TB late last year.

Lately, I have been a downloading fool and figured 100TB should tide me over for a bit. :lmao:

I was never entirely clear on the functionality of these units. Does it really rip and store the entire content of the disc as a single .iso so that playback functions exactly as if I'd put a DVD or Blu-Ray in my Oppo, as I have been led to believe?

I've started my media server project this year -- ripping and encoding some 5000+ discs in our collection, storing it all on a 24TB NAS with a Mac Mini running Plex. It's nice to become more intimately familiar with the collection, but *man* this is taking me a lot of effort, too! I'll probably be at it 'til the end of the year...

You don’t rip the Blu Ray, you down load it. An average full length move takes about an hour at 100mbps. In the beginning, I was downloading a dozen movies a night. Now just 2 or 3 a day.

Playback is instantaneous with no previews, or load time. Faster than a player draw can open, the movie is already playing. You can pause it, and resume minutes, or days later. Multiple players can be set up ie: only play G rated movies in the kids room.

The GUI allows you to search by Alpha title, Genre, Actors, Director, even by time. If you only have 90 minutes, Kscape can display all movies in your collection at 90 mins or less.

Hi-Res Color cover art, trailers, reviews, behind the scenes, chapter search, its all there if you want it.

Truly ingenious; like I said I will post some pics. Full RF control too using your favorite mobile device.

Huh, that's interesting... so Kaleidoscape is somewhat of a media distributor in a sense. I wonder what it must've taken to have gotten the licenses for all that content.

How wide is their breadth of content? My wife and I have a lot of independent, foreign, and underground releases in our collection; I feel like it'd be likely I would try to add something to a Kscape unit and they wouldn't have it available for download.

It takes a lot of money, which is recovered when you buy the Digital Download.

Their store/content grows daily; for content such as yours, you would want their Disc Vault, which would allow you to copy your own Discs to the Server. This proves you own the original disc, and will hold 320 Blu Rays/DVD’s.
