My system is modest but much of it was hand built by me so I'm proud of it.
The mains are DIY symmetrically segmented wire-stator ESLs that electronically bend the wavefront to tailor the dispersion. The Ripol subs are also DIY, and their cardioid radiation pattern blends seamlessly with the dipolar ESLs. I have an extensive website dedicated to building ESL's. Gorgeous system. Your speakers are rather far apart and near to the rear wall. Could you comment?

The Jazzman MkIII ESLs are the soul of my system, and my pride and joy. I designed and built ESLs for fifteen years and they still amaze me. I once even built a pair using welding rods for the stators, and configured them with switch-selectable wide & narrow dispersion modes-- it worked great but wasn't practical. I no longer build ESLs but I still enjoy helping others build them, through my DIY ESL website. In my experience it's far easier to build a superb sounding ESL than a superb sounding conventional speaker. Not that it's less work (it isn't), but success is more certain because physics favors that outcome. |
