Stillpoints & Strads

4 Attachment(s)
I will be deploying Stillpoints Ultra SS for my Strads shortly. The problem is that the Strads have unequal length spikes to achieve the proper rake. In addition; this angle poses another issue for the Ultra SS, as it needs to be evenly loaded to work properly.

After considerable thought, I came across some pics of older Ultra SS feet that had dimples on top. These would work perfect for the factory spikes to sit on, and solve both issues. I inquired, and found out these are no longer made :(; however Stillpoints did have a few left. I bought every one they had :), and here are the pics along with the Ultra Base that I will use as well.

It seems strange they don't make that style anymore.

It's a very versatile design that could help anyone who owns speakers with different spike lengths and a need to preserve or introduce a certain amount of rake.

If I were ever to get Stillpoints, I would need a design with dimples to accommodate the round point spikes I have on my 20.7s

Interesting solution Ivan. Does this mean you will raise your speakers 2 inches from the floor?

I have had my eyes on how to implement the Stillpoints also under my speakers. I have them under the rest of the set up. But I have not found a suitable solution as the Amati Futura also have spikes with different heights. And also, the Futura have a rubber dampening between the spikes and the cabinet.
I am looking forward hearing about your findings here. Usually the height of the speakers is sensitive and one of the few measurements the manufacturer can be sure of when the product reaches the end consumer. Please let me know how it all plays out.

I got a good first hand look/listen at the various stillpoint models during my recent visit with Ivan. Definitely a very cool, very high quality product line. It does have my interest, but it's going to have to wait until I don't have so many other priority items on my plate.

You can be sure I will, aside from the obvious audio SQ it's also very important to me that they don't look too bizarre once under the Strads.

My Aida's will recieve four Ultra 5's each. :ok:

That should prove to be absolutely amazing!

So, with you having bought every one Stillpoints had, that leaves none for the rest of the poor saps with unequal length spikes. I am only annoyed because I might be becoming a poor sap too...
