Venere S vs Sonetto towers...

Yes, I know the Venere line are a mid level line, but it seems that the S tower is made in Italy and has upgrades, relative to the other Venere models. Plus, nice used sets of VenereS are now starting to show up for ~$3,500.

Now, with respect to the new Sonetto towers, I have seen some reviews with measurements which call into question their frequency response curves, and that Venere may actually have a more neutral frequency response. It seems that they intimated that the Sonettos may be brighter than neutral in HF.

So, has anybody had experience with Venere S alone or in comparison to the Sonetto towers? Thanks much.

I have heard the Venere S vs the Sonetto V. To me the Sonetto sounds closer to the new Amati Tradition’s type of sound.

The Venere S sounds more like the old Olympica (non Nova).

I prefer the newer sound.

After further research, it appears the general consensus it that the Sonetto series is a significant improvement over Venere. I'm really liking the idea of a set of Sonetto V. The Sonetto VIII give you one more woofer, but are only rated for 2dB additional bass extension.

Sonetto's have better HF extension, are more engaging and overall more refined when compared to the old venere series
