Dac 8 hi rés file with USB

Hello everybody,

I'm very please to write my first post on this Audio Research page!

I just buy a new dac and i choose the dac 8 because i wanted a very good one!

I ve looked at the McIntosh D150 but i found his conception less serious than the dac 8 and i didn't need any pré-amp or headphone amp!

Looked at the McIntosh MDA1000 and the Accuphase dc37 too, but i found them à little too expensive! As the Ref dac also!

Maybe one of you could help me for the USB connection. I use an Apple Mac mini with Audirvana+ and i'm under OS X El Capitan 10.11.3 but i don't find the driver to be able to read hi rés. File at 176 or 192 kHz. I think it's the same problem for the more recent Ref dac owners.

I wrote à message to audio research yesterday, but if you have already a solution!

I will post some pictures soon of my system.

Éric

Thank you Michael,

I used before a dac Cambride Audio. I'm very happy by this upgrade, the sound is more accurate and when i listen music i always feel like to turn up the volume!

Hi Éric,

Congrats. As I recently purchased Ref Dac the same issue here..

As of March Arc offers USB board upgrade and matching Firmware upgrade, free of charge for original Ref Dac owners.

Apparently, after this upgrade no drivers would be needed. I'm hoping this would also allow usage of USB connected streamers etc, Aurender or Auralic.

Hope the above applies for Dac8 as well?

Best

Frank

Thank you Franck, an upgrade with no driver solution is the best, i will ask for it to arc for my dac8. hope it's possible.

Great pictures! The DAC8 is a very nice sounding DAC. I do wish though that Audio Research would support Linux.
