LeMons?

Any other member ever driven in a LeMons endurance race?

I am excited to be joining my brother's team and will be driving at the upcoming LeMons race at Barber Motorsports park in early February. They have built a 1965 Ford Ranchero which we will be taking for its third trip to the track. Hopefully this time we can keep water in it! ;)

I have never done it but it sounds like a lot of fun!

24 Hours of LeMons:

The 24 Hours of LeMons is an endurance racing series for cars costing no more than $500. Races can last up to 24 hours in length and will certainly test the durability of a $500 car. With the series name being a parody of the famous European endurance classic, the 24 Hours of LeMans, these guys are all about fun. The penalties and punishments for breaking the rules are as entertaining and often times even more entertaining than the racing action itself. With the fun, laid back atmosphere that the LeMons organization brings to the track, this is certainly one of the featured events at the Barber Motorsports Park.

That looks like a hell of a lot of fun!

It does look like a blast. Have been tempted in the past, maybe one of these days it happens.

Well I popped my LeMon with a sorry 12 laps this weekend at Barber Motor Sports park (Fantastic track!).

Team Ol' Dudes had a rough weekend. Chasing oil leaks, fixing a broken tie rod and then trying to figure out why we couldn't keep the front end alignment ending with lots of blue smoke for those behind us.

Saturday started with a nice two hour run by our starting driver and 42 laps. It ended after a 16 hour day of wrenching which ended at 11:00 PM after learning we had a broken sub frame which explained why we couldn't keep the front end alignment ;). More wrenching and some welding and some use of the BAH (big ass hammer), we made it back on the track on Sunday around 3:00. Didn't get see the checker as we were blowing oil and were politely asked by the officials to park it so as not to 'oil' the track for the leaders in the last hour. - fair enough.

54 total laps and we were not last!

It was a blast and I will do it again with the Ol' Dudes - if they will have me.

Craig.......Heck, I'd pull over if I saw that in the rearview mirror on the street for fear you had no brakes or insurance. Better to have it in front of me where I can keep an eye on it. :laughin:

Well, I spent most of my track time getting out of the way since it handled like crap, I had never been in the car before and I had never been in that track before - it was exciting!

Our car has some issues which we have to address before the next race in early May. Need to rebuild the motor and the front end of the car, you know, weekend driveway type work. ;)
