Going to audition the pl 200s soon has anyone heard them or does anyone own them?

I have four PL300's in my HT system, two PL300's in my Two channel system, and two in a small two channel system. They are pretty dynamic, and aggressive. Not for the faint of heart.:D

I bounce between these and Sonus Faber, quite a contrast.

There are a couple of reviews (stereophile/soundstage ultra) on the PL200 which I think is are a pretty good description of the PL series.

I also think ChadWagner has PL200.

What are you using for amplification? WW cables?

KMC45 11-29-2015 11:08 PM

HT=McIntosh MC205, powers the four PL3000/PLC350. I use to have five MC501's on these speakers and I thought I would really miss them when I changed, I haven't.

2 Channel=Esoteric Grandioso M1/In a week i'm going to switch to Sonus Faber Elipsa Red/Just because. I'd like to try some TAD Cr-1's on my Esoteric system.

Small 2 Channel PL100=McIntosh MAC6700/MCD550, just sold my MA8000 and went with this one. Have to wait for a friend to bring it over to my house from the dealer.

I use WW PC, and I mainly use Audioquest wire, because a friend has gotten it for me. I'm not a guy that get's all wrapped up about wire.

I think you'll find Monitor Audio speakers to be well made, well engineered, good looking, and good sounding. The ribbon tweeter can sound a little hot for some people.

Good luck with you audition.

I am a huge Monitor Audio fan!

I started with Silver 9i, 12i, 4i speakers. I moved up to the GR20, GRLCR, GR10 as soon as I moved up to McIntosh from my Marantz based system. I found the synergy with McIntosh gear to be very good.

The 4i speakers got redeployed to my home office and my original GR20, GRLCR, and GRFX speakers are still being used in the family room system that the kids use.

I listen to GR10 speakers in the bedroom, work office, and home gym.

In our great room I have PL200, PLC150, and GRFX speakers.

In the home theater I have PL300, PL350, 4 X PL INWALL, and PL100 speakers.

I have PL100 in the games room.

The PL200 is a fantastic speaker. Our great room is a very large open room with tall ceilings and the PL200 does a great job in this space. I love that speaker. I enjoy everything I play on this speaker. The PL300 is harder to drive and needs a powerful amp to be its best. With a powerful amp it sounds fantastic. The PL INWALLS sound very close to the PL200 speakers to my ears. They may not go down quit as low, but I am very impressed by them.

I do not like the PLC150 as much. I think I should upgrade to a PLC350 for the great room some day.

For the money I find Monitor Audio speaker to be a fantastic value and sound great!

I hope I will get a chance to hear the PL500 speakers when they are released next year.

Wow two serious MA fans above. I had Monitor Audio RS6.

I have heard the PL300 with Bryston gear and the sound was superb, pushed a lot of air at the lower end.

Chad is the person i've known the longest on audio forums, all because of our common interest in Monitor Audio speakers.

I just received pictures of the new PL II Series, including the PL500 II. There should be a press release shortly, or maybe it's already out.

I won't post the picture because I don't have permission (and I don't know how:D), but I will say that the PL500 is nearly twice as big as the PL300 and cost nearly three times as much.

If I had a much bigger room for my two channel I think i'd buy them before hearing them, which I did with my first PL300's.
