LAN cable from Aurender to Router
Hi aurender users. I know LAN cables make a difference, but does any of you know if the quality of the LAN cable between the aurender and the router will make a difference? The reason I ask is, I am looking at the A30 and my router is pretty far away from the system and if the LAN cable will make a difference in the quality of streaming from Tidal, than I must add the cost of a long audiophile LAN cable to the total budget :( we are talking about more than 15 meters.

Answer; most definitely!

There are at least two other pathways to consider beyond buying a long expensive Ethernet cable.
- Install an Audio grade Ethernet switch close to your Aurender and then a short high grade cable. - Install the Gigafoil V4 Ethernet filter close to your Aurender and then a short high grade cable. Do the math. I can tell you from my experiments, a Gigafoil and upgraded cable definitely improves the sound in my system. That is with 30’ of a generic Belden Ethernet cable. |

I am newly streaming Tidal through my N100H - and am in love :)
Related to the question above on ethernet cable - does anyone know how the Aurender technically receives the streamed data? For example, if you play an entire album, how is the data being received and processed - is the entire playlist 'downloaded' at once and buffered in the RAM of the caching drive? Or is it being transferred continuously (and just a few steps ahead of what you're hearing)? Just trying to get my head around the role of the cable from the router and how it makes a difference (technically). Cheers Matt |
I wait for an answer from others who know. I believe most streamers gather a buffer of some sort and am pretty sure it just about the data stream and has nothing to do with tracks, albums or playlists. It’s all about the bits!

This video by digital audio reviewer Hans Beekhuzen should help you understand. And, why fiber sounds better than a run of ethernet. it also explains why the Gigafoil referenced above works, too.
https://youtu.be/48oepwZgYRw Hans is my go-to reference for all things related to digital audio and streaming, as well as things like streamer reviews, how to set up speakers, etc. A very objectively minded guy who understands that the perception of music is a subjective experience. Highly recommended. |

An AQVox "audiophile" newtwork switch also works wonders.
