What does it mean that there is a puddle of oil under my amp?

My 300 sei has a puddle of oil under it.

The front feet have oil on them also.

Been doing this for a while now.

Did you neglect your 10k mile oil change? :D

You have a Cap(s) leaking.

CRJCapt 04-14-2019 09:39 PM

They got a bad batch and like all high end left everyone in the wind and denied everything.

Classic high end move.

Sounds like a paper and oil cap ruptured...

Despite what folks may think, they don't last forever...especially any liquid-based cap e.g. paper and oil or electrolytic.

I agree. Don't use it until you have it checked out. What caps are in it?

Bet it wouldn't be that way if Dennis was still there.

Remember the old maxim: If there's no oil under a British car, there's no oil in the British car.

Q: Why don't the British build computers?

A: They haven't figured out a way to make them leak oil. :D

Bumper sticker that read:

The parts falling off this car are of the finest British workmanship.

Changing the caps is easy. Don't send it to Cary it's a 30 minute job.

Is your amp a Jaguar 300 sei? Could just be normal condition.

CRJCapt 04-19-2019 06:48 PM

So I shouldn't use it?

Sounds great still. Maybe I'll replace them myself.

I actually own an English car. The good news is they put an american V8 in it before it left the factory. (sunbeam)

I would replace them and you can DIY.

I thought the Alpine Tigers were the bomb when I was a lot younger.

Did you end up replacing them? Or leave then seeping a little?

Did you get this fixed? Was it oil-in-paper/copper caps?

Another English car joke: Lucas, prince of darkness.
That said, my TR-4A back in the day was quite reliable.

I saw this necro thread pop and the first thing that came to mind without opening it was:

British Sports Car. I see that has been well covered.
