Preamp with 2 outputs

Hi

I'm currently using a Levinson 326S mated to a 532 amp pushing B&W 802D2. I have just acquired a new B&W sub which only accept mono/stereo line level input.

I had a very high quality Y adaptor made to send the preout signal to the amp and sub and have been happy with the results. However, as is the bain of this hobby, I want to seek out a high quality preamp that offers 2 concurrent outputs.

Any suggestions on whats available and what might match the amp? I'm opened to swapping out the levinson setup entirely.

Run the balanced outputs to your 532 amp and run the rca outputs to your sub.

Unfortunately, the 326 prioritises XLR out first and so they dont output together

XLR and RCA output -> PS Audio BHK Signature PreAmp

2 x XLR (or RCA) output -> Audio Research Reference (I have the 5SE but I suspect the 6 should do as well)

I'm no expert here, but couldn't you use the "record" rca outputs?

BWLover 09-22-2016 11:03 AM

Oops. Never mind, they are fixed volume outputs.

The McIntosh C2300 preamp has three outputs; Main, 1, and 2 (each output allows both XLR and RCA connections).

I concurrently use the Main XLR output for my power amps and Output 1 with RCAs to my subwoofer. What's really nice is, from the front panel, you can enable/disable Outputs 1 & 2 independently of the Main output. Looking at the connections of the newer C2500 and C2600 preamps, they also offer this functionality.

The manual suggests balanced outs as the preferred connection for gain and low noise. However I can assure you 100% both types of output are active always and can be used simultaneously. You have no need for a new preamp other than "I want one". I have used mine in this manner with excelent results !!!:thumbsup:

I've tried this but no signal was going to the sub. I need to retry this.

well i'll be damned, i changed the input sensitivity of the sub and wow. Now to re divert the attention to another amp. Thanks for the response tdelahnaty!
