I sure wish CJ would ditch the classic champagne color for the black and silver most other manufacturers use. Hifi companies seem to some of the most conservative companies around. I guess they are mostly run by engineers and that explains the lack of attention ascetics get. IMHO CJ gear all looks more dated than it should because of the champagne color. Yes, I'm sure they WANT to look dated. Gives it a classic sophistication and all that, but I think the cons out weigh the pros. The other thing is, unless you go all CJ, your CJ gear doesn't blend in with the rest of your system.

Ultimately appearance is much lower priority than sound, but if you put a CJ pre inside a CLASSE body I'm thinking you'd see a spike in sales.

So my wife was commenting recently on the gear...it's all black, grey or silver, except for that hunk of CJ called ET5, which stands out like a big sore thumb. Her basic comment was that the rest of the gear looks like nothing, the ET5 looks like a million bucks.

Personally, I really like the C-J classic champagne color it is something different than the overly ubiquitous brushed aluminum or black (which is even more tiresome, IMHO.)

I also really love the mirror-finish Burmester chrome look.

But if we're talkin' stylin', it's got to be DarTZeel's Iron Man gestalt....

I won't give you heat, guff, or any of that stuff. I'll just say that to me most black (some Mc stuff excepted) and, to a lesser degree, silver/aluminum gear looks :boring:.

A much compelling consideration, however, is that my wife likes the sparkle of c-j champagne. And since she lets me populate our living-dining listening area with tube traps, I don't give her any guff, either. :D

No, my wife says I THINK I'm always right, but in fact I just do what she tells me.

BTW, really hard to think with your avitar staring at me. I keep thinking, tubes, boobs, tubes, boobs...very distracting... Now if CJ could make their stuff look like that...now we're talking!!! Knobs are about right, color is about right too...I guess I do like that color! : )

Any wife that tolerates Tube Traps in the Living/Family room is a "Keeper" ;)

Amen. To which there's a footnote: In March, around the time a need for space for new priorities forced me to move most of my heavyweight audio, including the 17LS and MF2500, from what had been the dedicated listening room to the living-dining area's A/V setup, the local b&m dealer with whom I'd done business for 20 years gave me a preliminary heads-up on his plans to shutter his retail operation and offer his demo gear at closeout prices. I immediately snapped up his pair of Paradigm SE-1 mini's, intending them to replace the stand-mounted 10-year-old A/V-feed Mini Monitors.

My wife liked the look of the rosenut SE-1's the instant she saw them, and when I mentioned, with no ulterior motive (yeah, I can hear the "yeah, sures" from here), that the dealer still had a pair of demo rosenut floorstanding SE-3's to sell, she asked, matter of factly, "How much are they?"

I told her the price, but added that they weren't on my have-to-have list.

"Well, if you decide you want them, I'll pay half."

Which is why I'll gladly admit that my wife's right all the time.
