Am shopping for a second tonearm for use with MM cartridges (AT150MXL, Shure V15VxMR & ? in the future) and am thinking I may go with the RB300, RB301 or RB700 and am wondering about the difference between the three. Am aware of the lack of VTA adjustment problem. Anyone have any knowledge of these arms that would recommend one more than the other? Thanks.

I haven't tested and compared those arms, but I am aware that there's a VTA adjuster on the fly as an aftermarket item for the RB300.

These days the RB 300's are only available used, as they are about two years out of production...

Are you going to mount on the micro seiki?

Here's an arm that works very well, if you are thinking about the RB300 that still uses the single hole. The Consonance T988. I've got a couple of these and they work very well. VTA adjustment, etc etc and pretty easy to set up. I've actually got one on their turntable and use it with a Clearaudio Maestro Wood.

I would seek out the 250 if your going down the Rega road.......the VTF incorporates a spring in its mechnism on the 300 model and it resonates, people either stuff a tiny piece cotton or remove it altogether. The 250 does not have that spring and can be made into a nice arm with a rewire and end stub/counter weight on the cheap. also the Pete Riggle VTA adjuster is a nice add on for the 250.....Here is a pic of the one I have laying around with a OC9 MK III.

Seriously, I'd just grab that 250 from Jeff... No fuss no muss.

Now why didn't I think to ask you since you just provided my new Nova phono preamp (which is sounding better and better). You have an e-mail.

Sorry, I don't, but it might be on their website...

Thanks. Based on some additional reading and other feedback, I purchased an SME 3009 Series 2 non-improved (removable headshell) for use with my MC cartridges. Also sent the Ortofon Kontapunkt b of to Soundsmith for a retip. Once The DDX-1000 is 'playing nicely' with the SME and Jelco arms I'll like have to find a 12" TA for the third armboard.
